We hosted a meeting at our Boston office to discuss ways to fund the construction of more affordable housing.

Richard Tice, MP for Boston and Skegness, and Kate Henderson, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation, joined Rob Griffiths, Deputy Chief Executive, and Phil Hardy, Chief Operations Officer, for the meeting.

During the 90-minute discussion, they spoke about ways to increase funding available for building affordable homes, as well as the need to regenerate more brownfield sites.

Rob Griffiths, Deputy Chief Executive said: “The meeting was really positive, with some good discussions about local and national housing opportunities, and it was a great chance to explore ideas around future delivery and funding models in an open and collaborative setting.

“We were also able to demonstrate the scale of delivery that we’ve made to new homes alongside our continuing investment in existing homes.

“Being joined at the meeting by the National Housing Federation really helped amplify the messaging from a sector perspective.

“It’s important for us to engage with representatives from all political areas as we work across over 60 local authority areas.

“Engaging with politicians enables us to demonstrate the important work we do, alongside the wider sector. It also helps us to shape housing policy and potential future funding for the sector.”

Following the meeting, the group visited our recently completed development The Skylarks in Frampton.

Richard Tice MP said: “I have had good discussions with Amplius and the National Housing Federation around how we can release extra funding to be able to build more.

“Affordable housing is part of my remit as business, trade and energy spokesman for Reform UK, and it is critical. We have almost no growth in the country, and property is critical to achieving that growth.

“We need to get more sites up and running, with a particular focus on regenerating brownfield sites in places like Boston and Skegness up and down the country.

“Quite simply, when we see things being built, it makes us feel good, and generating brownfield sites will make people feel pleased.

“It’s wonderful to see a quality completed development here in Frampton – Amplius has done a great job.”

Kate Henderson, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation, said she enjoyed visiting The Skylarks.

She added: “It was great to be part of this interesting and engaging visit to Skylarks in Frampton, a mixed-tenure development which includes both social and shared ownership homes for families.

“The delivery of these much-needed homes demonstrates what housing associations like Amplius can achieve with the right funding and through strategic partnerships with Homes England.

“The visit was also a valuable opportunity to discuss housing supply, economic growth, affordability and resident engagement with local MP Richard Tice alongside my Amplius colleagues.

“It’s through visits like this that parliamentarians from all parties can best understand and see the value in housing associations’ contribution to our communities and local economies.”
